The Johnson Avenue church functions as a family. We enjoy many activities together throughout the year.  Who better to spend our leisure time with than our brothers and sisters in Christ?  We especially encourage our youth through special activities and events for them and for their families. Here are some examples of what we do:

Each Sunday evening in February, children from preschool age through 6^th grade are invited to tag along with Big Buddies (7-12 graders) to learn about Bible people and events in a fun and exciting way! The Little Buddies are led in songs, games, and in acting out scenes from a selected book of the Bible.

Each year many of our children participate in the area Bible Bowl with kids from around San Diego county.  Grouped in age level teams, they demonstrate their Bible knowledge in a quiz show type friendly competition. Our children have brought home many trophies and awards!

Members organize an annual trip to visit and encourage the orphans and workers at the City of Children in Mexico.

Each summer the congregation works together to provide a week-long evening event for our children and as an outreach to children around our community. Singing, crafts, and games are some of the ways we help children learn more about Jesus. Almost every member of our congregation serves in some way.

Many of our youth attend Florida College summer Bible Camp, creating lifetime bonding experiences and lasting friendships with others from California.

Each year the Deacons and their wives host a potluck picnic at a local park for the entire congregation. There is lots of food and lots of fun for everyone!
